Abhishek Tiwari

Abhishek Tiwari is an Early Stage Researcher within the Marie Skłodowska-Curie ITN project “ WinGrid”, who is under the supervision of Dr. Damian Flynn in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at University College Dublin.

He is currently working on the scheduling and coordination of the aggregated WPP inertial (fast frequency) response resource within a high variable renewables power system. This involves development of operational rules along with assessment of frequency stability and available frequency support considering response from wind power plants and other alternative inertial support providers. His research interests include renewable energy integration into the power system, electricity markets and energy economics. Before starting his PhD Abhishek was employed with Trucost, part of S&P Global for four years where he helped clients gain insights on their investments in the backdrop of changing policies for combating climate change. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Bhilai Institute of Technology in 2014 and Master’s degree in Energy Systems Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay in 2016.
